“Privately Believing in God Could Lead to 3-5 Years in Jail”

In the morning on December 6^th, 2002, in the interrogation room of the State Protection Team of Suiyang District, Shangqiu City, Henan Province, the team director Liang Dong, the party director Dexue Qin and several others were interrogating Christian Qingxue Guo. The police asked him about his religious activities and other believers. Guo did not say any thing. The party director ordered him to kneel down on the ground, and then grabbed his hair to strike his head against the wall. Another policeman stepped up and slapped him on the face. He again struck his head against the wall. The team director Liang Dong threatened, “Privately believing in God is against the law. You can be charged as anti-revolution and sentenced to 3-5 years in jail!”

The interrogation and torture lasted for about three hours. But Brother Guo did not give in. About 8:00 in the next morning, after his family paid 500 RMB, Brother Guo was released with the warning to renounce his faith. Brother Guo lives in Guantang Town, Liangyuan District, Shangqiu City, Henan Province. He was arrested at the night on December 5^th from his home.
