Police Continued Beating Her with Electric Baton after the Wood Club Broken

At the night on December 24^th, 2002, Christian Suyun Peng, female, was discussing with Xiuzhi Zong, female, about preaching the gospel at Zong’s home in Liudian Town, Xiayi County, Shangqiu City, Henan Province. Suddenly, the county Security Protection Team Director Sihong Zhang led several policemen broke in and arrested them.

At the Security Protection Team, the police separated the two Christians for interrogation. The police forced Peng to give the names of other Christians, but she refused. The associate director Hui Tian howled at her, “No one who privately believed in God can get out from here!” Policeman Chuanling Xia stepped forward and slapped her on the face for a while and then kicked her down. The police forced her to take off the coat and then four of them surrounded her to beat her. Policeman Lanjin Li picked up a wood club and whipped on her. When the club was broken, he used an electric baton to continue beating her. She screamed out of great pain. Then the police forced her to stretched arms out and placed a club on them. Whenever the club fell, the police would beat her. Shortly after a while, her body was covered with injuries. The other sister, Xiuzhi Zong was similarly tortured.

In the next morning, the police beat them again. In the afternoon, Zong’s family pled through some connections and paid 1500 RMB fine. Then she was released. But they continued interrogating Peng. In the evening, seeing she refused to confess, the associate director Tian ordered her to stand till the next morning (about 15 hours). And then she was sent to the county detention center. On January 17^th, after her family sent the police 1800 RMB gifts and paid 2500 RMB fine, Sister Peng was released.
