Three Evangelists Arrested and One Could not Go Home after Escaping

In the afternoon on January 25^th, 2003, Evangelists Qingliang Zhu, Guoqiang Wang, and Rongxin Gao were on their way back home from preaching in Qigang Village, Yanggu Town, Qi County, Kaifeng City, Henan Province. They were stopped by several police led by the town police precinct party director Qingjun Zhao. The police took away their notebooks and Zhu’s I.D. and then took them to the precinct.

The police interrogated and beat them up but could not get any thing. Then the police put them separately into three empty rooms in the night. Zhu found that the room was not locked and then escaped. Because the police had his I.D. card, he did not dare to go home.

Guoqiang Wang was released the next day after his family paid 1200 RMB fine. Rongxin Gao was sent to the county detention center on 26^th. Later, his family sent gifts to Guofang Gao, Head of Security Division of the County Public Security Department, and paid 500 RMB fine. Rongxin Gao was released on 30^th.

Guoqiang Wang and Rongxin Gao, both male, were from Yanggu Town. Qingliang Zhu, male, was from Xizhai Town.
