Party Director Said “Report Any Believers and I Will Give You Money”

On January 13^th, 2003, in the interrogation roomin Zhao Village Town Police Precinct, Ningling County, Shangqiu City, Henan Province, the Party Director Yuhui Yang was abusing Christian Jianhua Zhai, “Shxx! Believing in God and preaching are against the law! Beat you to death if you still refuse to confess!” Then he kicked him down on the ground, picked up a rope and whipped on his face and head. Zhai covered his head with his arms, and then his arms were severely injured. After a while, Yang kicked his legs to force him to confess… Such interrogation lasted for about one hour.

In the afternoon, the police forced Zhai to write an I-O-U statement for a 100 RMB. Then the party director told him before setting him free, “No more believing in God. Report any believers and I will give you money.”

Jianhua Zhai, male, from Zhao Village Town, was arrested from his home about 5:00 in the early morning because of his Christian faith and preaching activities.
