Police Forced Son to Report Mother
On January 14th, 2003, Yulian Liu was arrested from her home in Wangji Town, Tanghe County, Henan Province.
At 7:00 in that evening, the County Public Security Department State Protection Team Associate Director Jun Tong led several police went to Yulian Liu’s home. The police asked Yulian Liu whether she believed in Jesus, whether there were any spiritual books, tapes etc. Then the police ransacked the house, but could not find any thing. Then the police took her away together with her 14-year old son to the town police station.
In the interrogation room, Jun Tong and others forced Liu to confess. They also threatened her son to report his mother by saying Liu’s believing in God would affect her son to be able to go to college. But the police could not get any thing. At the night, her son was released while Liu herself was sent to the county public security department. At the midnight, she was transferred to the county detention center under the charge of “believing in cult” without any evidence.
On January 21st, after her husband pleaded through some connections and paid 1000 RMB fine, she was released.
