“These Books Are Enough to Let You Lifetime in Jail!”

At the night on April 15^th, 2003, Christians Fengrong Wang and Yumei Zhou from Fujing Town, Shenqiu County, Henan Province, were arrested and beaten up.

At the midnight in the interrogation room in the County Public Security Department, a policeman pointed at the books found from their homes and threatened, “You believe in God privately and this is against the Communist Party! These books are enough to let you lifetime in jail!” To force them confess, the police struck Sister Wang’s toes with a staff. She could not bear the pain and tried to cover with her hands. Then the police struck her hands and arms. The police tied her on a chair, and then stamped on her feet and struck her toes again…such torture lasted till the early morning. The other sister, YUmei Zhou was also badly beaten up. Her face and feet swelled a lot. They were sent to the county detention center under the charge of “believing in cult”.

After her family had spent 5800 RMB on bribing, Yumei Zhou was released on April 23^rd; Fengrong Wang was released on April 30^th after her family had spent 1000 RMB on bribing and paid 1000 RMB fine.
