The Shameless Police Forced Her to Lift up Clothes …

On April 15^th, 2003, two female evangelists were arrested while preaching in Xiayi County, Henan Province. They were beaten up and sexually assaulted.

They were Zhonglan Yu, 38 and Yuhua Guo, 45, from Liangli Town, Dangshan County, Anhui Province. In that morning, on their way back from preaching, they were arrested by five policemen from Handaokou Town Police Station. The police took them to the station and then body-searched them, confiscating all gospel materials and 89 RMB cash (~$11). Then they were interrogated separately. Just when she was taken into the interrogation room, Zhonglan Yu was immediately beaten up. A policeman grabbed her hair and slapped heavily on her face, threatening, ”Say! Who led you to God? Who is your leader?” She refused. Then the policeman picked up a rule to struck her head and face, shouting, “Believing in God privately is against the Communist Party!...” He struck her several dozen times until the rule broken. Then the policeman picked a wood club to continue beating her. After a while, the policemen tied her all around and pushed her to kneel on the ground, placing three bricks on her legs. The police punched and kicked her around. While pushing against her back, they pulled her arms up which were tied at back, making her scream out of extreme pain. At the same time, Sister Yuhua Guo was similarly tortured also. Such interrogation lasted for 14 hours. But they did not give in.

In the afternoon on 16^th, they were taken to the State Protection Team of the County Public Security Department, where the interrogation continued. An old policeman about over 50, heavily punched Yuhua Guo’s chest for 5-6 times (It was a woman’s chest!). Another policeman with glasses slapped her face violently. Then he used a book to smash her face and head. Later, he used an electric baton to shock her face, chin and other places for several dozen times. Blood ran out of her mouth. Her face swelled and became full of blisters. But the police did not stop. He grabbed her hair and smashed her head against wall for a while (Try to kill her?) She collapsed down on the ground. Another policeman (about 38-year old) ordered her to lift her clothes. In fear of more beating, she lifted her clothes. Then the policeman instructed a man the police called in to touch her body…At the same time, Sister Zhonglan Yu was also beaten up again.

In the afternoon on 17^th, the police sent Zhonglan Yu to Xiayi County Detention Center, and kept Yuhua Guo in the police department for further interrogation. On 19^th, after the two families bribed the police and paid 3000 RMB fine (no receipt given), the two sisters were released.
