The Police Forcibly Fed Her Medicines to Blur Her Mind and then Interrogated Her

Ximei Hou, a female evangelist from Baitu Town, Xiao County, Anhui Province, was arrested when preaching the gospel in Xuzhou City, Jiangsu Province on February 12th, 2003. She was beaten up, sent to a mental hospital, detained for 35 days and fined for 2200 RMB (~$300).

In that afternoon, right after she came out of Zhang’s home in Zhongshan Road, Quanshan District, Xuzhou City, where she had preached the gospel, a group of police from Jiahe Police Station surrounded her. The police slammed her on the ground and dragged her at her feet over 30 meters and then stuck her into the car.

At the police station, she was body-searched. After finding some gospel materials, the station chief Feng and Quanshan District Police Branch police Tao Feng interrogated her. Chief Feng ordered her to take off her shoes and socks and kneel down on the ground. Then he shouted at her, “Who sent you to preach? Say immediately!” She did not reply. Then Chief Feng and another police beat her up. Police Tao Feng stuck his shoes into her mouth until her mouth full of blood. Then the police grabbed her hair and stuck dirty cloth and socks into her mouth…The police mistreated her all kinds of means they could think about. Such torture lasted for more than 10 hours. (More than 10 hours! My heart is broken. – Faith) In the next afternoon, the police sent her into a mental hospital in Sanhuan Road. The police tied her to a bed and fed her some medicines by force (How vicious!) The medicine made her unable to think clearly. Then the police interrogated her again.

In the afternoon on 15th, she was sent to Beishan Detention Center in Xuzhou City. On 26th, she was sent back to her home town, and detained in Longshanzi Detention Center in Xiao County. After her family pleaded, the police released her after collecting 2200 RMB. When she left, the police shouted at her, “This is the Communist Party’s country! You God-believers will never stand up!” (You fool, may God forgive your sins! – Faith)
