Anhui: Two Female Evangelists Beaten up and Sexually Harassed
On March 26th, 2003, Female evangelists Yinhuan Li and Cuiping Yang were arrested by the police from Qingshan Town, Dingyuan County, Anhui Province.
At the evening, they were taken to the town police station. The station Party Director Chuanli Wu, male, 35, and other policemen forcibly body-searched the two women. After finding some gospel materials, they started to interrogate them. Director Wu grabbed Yinhuan Li’s hair and then slapped her on the face for a while, shouting “Say! Where did you get these stuffs? Who sent you to preach?” Then he kicked her violently. And two other policemen joined the beating. Director WU also threatened to take off their pants, and touched their body viciously… Such interrogation lasted till midnight. But the two sisters did not tell any thing.
In the next afternoon, they were taken to the county public security department. The Political Protection Division Head Yunhe Wang and policeman Yong Wang interrogated them. Officer Wang intimidated them and ordered Yong Wang to beat them up. Then Yong Wang slapped Sister Li on her face, kicked her down on the ground, punched her head heavily…Sister Yang was also beaten up. After several hours, seeing that they were unable to get any thing, the police then sent the two sisters into the county detention center.
On May 7th, the police extorted 350 RMB and 400 RMB from Li and Yang, respectively, without giving any receipt. Later, they were released.
