The Police Poured Cold Water onto Her to Wake Her up and then Continued Torturing
On May 1st, 2003, Evangelists Panqin Rong and Defang Zhang were arrested and brutally beaten up by the police from Zhulong Town Police Station, Chuzhou City, Anhui Province.
In that morning, Panqin Rong, female, 29, from Guanshan Town, Guangming City, and Defang Zhang, female, 33, from Chihe Town, Dingyuan County, were on their way to preach. When they arrived at Huangni Village, Zhulong Town, they were stopped by the town police station chief Jiming Wang and others. The police body-searched them and took away their spiritual books. Then they were taken to the police station.
About 11:00, Guiwen Li, Director of the State Protection Team of Nanjiao Branch Chuzhou City Public Security Department arrived together with policeman Fangyin Gui. They interrogated the two sisters separately. At first, Director Li slapped Sister Rong on her face for a dozen times, shouting “Who sent you again to preach? Tell us!” (Sister Rong was detained some time ago because of preaching.) Then Station Chief Wang used a book to slap her face. Policeman Fangyin Gui kicked her head. Before she could balance her, Director Li grabbed her hair and struck her head for several dozen times until she fainted out. The police then poured cold water onto her to wake her up and then continued torturing her. Such brutal interrogation lasted for more than five hours. Sister Zhang was similarly treated by the police also. But the two sisters did not give in. Finally, Director Li forced them to finger-print on a faith-renouncing document, and then released them.
