“We Won’t Let You Go if You Don’t Tell Us the Other Believers!”

On April 3rd, 2003, Evangelist Renquan Ding, from JIxiang Town, Wuwei County, Anhui Province was arrested and detained for 15 days.

In that afternoon, Brother Ding was sharing the gospel at Houwu Zhu’s home in Yanggang Village, Shilitun Town. The town police station Party Director Jigeng Ye led several policemen came. The police confiscated his books and then took him to the county public security department. The Political Protection Division Head Zhaojue Huang and Party Director Ye interrogated him for his preaching activities. The interrogation lasted till 6:00 in the evening. But Brother Ding did not tell any thing. Then the police sent him to the county detention center under the charge of “believing in cult”.

On April 18th, Ding’s family pleaded through some connections and wrote a statement on his behalf to renounce his faith. Then he was bailed out. Upon his leaving, the police warned, “This is temporary release. Report to us whenever you are informed. We won’t let you go if you don’t tell us the other believers!”
