The Police Intimidated “Your Daughter-in-Law Broke the Law Because of Believing in God Privately”

Christian Xiaoxia Chen lived in Zhutong Street Zhutong Town, Huanyuan County, Anhui Province. In the afternoon on January 8^th, 2003, the county police together with the town police went to her home to arrest her. She was away from home on that day. Then the police ransacked the house, confiscating all spiritual books and 3560 RMB. Upon leaving, the police intimidated her father-in-law, “Your daughter-in-law broke the law because believing in God privately. Today we could not get her. We will keep searching for her!”

Finally, she was arrested in the morning on February 10^th, and was sent to the county detention center under the charge of “believing in cult”. She was interrogated many times by the county police. But she did not tell any thing.

On February 26^th, after her family spent 1000 RMB and handed in the fine of 2000 RMB, she was bailed out.
