The Police Continued Torturing Her after She Woke up

“Freeze! We are police!” Three policemen broke into Zhonglan Liang’s home in Xiajiahe Town, Xinbin County, Liaoning Province. One of them picked up a spiritual book and shouted at three Christians, “You broke the law. Take them away!” Then the police cuffed the Christians and took them to the town police station.

The three Christians were Shulian Chen, female, from Xinwu District, Wushun City, Liaoning Province, Liyong Tao, male, from Hali Town, Qiqihaer City, Heilongjiang Province, and Wenjiang Yu, male, from Gulouzi Town, Dandong City, Liaoning Province.

In the morning on January 15^th, 2003, these three Christians were meeting together. Unexpectedly, Xiajiahe Town police surrounded and arrested them. After being taken to the town police station, they were body-searched. The police took away 435 RMB and other materials from Sister Chen. Then they were interrogated. Finding nothing, then the police sent them to Xinbin County Detention Center at the evening.

In the afternoon on January 19^th, Sister Chen was taken to a hotel near the detention center for interrogation. The police took off her coats, shoes and socks, and cuffed her hands to a sofa. Four policemen took turn to question her. They asked how she got to know the other two, and whether she was the leader. She did not answer. One of the policemen jumped over and slap on her mouth. He kicked her hands while asking her for her relation with Liang. The cuff became tighter after each kick. Shortly after, her hands swell a lot. Then the police used electric batons to shock her all around her body…till she fainted out. The police then poured clod water onto her face and head. When she woke up, the police continued torturing her. The four took turn to slap on her face, and punch her head, saying, “If you die it would be counted as suicide.”

She had her period during that time. After 24 hours of torturing, she fainted again, her mouth bleeding. Then the police dragged her back to the detention center. She became very sick, unable to concentrate and keeping vomiting. Till the afternoon on 24^th, she still threw up green water. But the police still did not spare her. They took her to Wushun City Public Security Department, and ordered her to tell who were believers from the pictures. She denied. At the night, the vicious policemen took her to the hotel again to torture her…In the next several days, she was interrogated and tortured by various brutal means for several times.

Later, after her family handed in 6500 RMB (~$800) to the police, Sister Chen was released on March 20^th. Till now, she is still suffering from dizziness and buzzing ears.

The other two Christians Liyong Tao and Wenjiang Yu were sentenced to three years in jail under the charge of “believing in cult”. They are serving the sentence in Wushun City Labor Camp. (Who is willing to visit the imprisoned least ones? - Faith)
