Never Seeing Such Scene, The Old Couple Felt Heart Jumping out

Qirong Zhu, 61, lived in Weizigou Town, Jiutai City, JIlin Province. He was arrested and sentenced to one year in labor camp.

In the afternoon on March 18^th, 2003, two police cars stopped in front of his home. The village security officer Yanguo Lan (male, over 40) led more than a dozen police break into the house, shouting at Qirong Zhu and his wife, ”You are believers. Surrender all you books!” The old couple never saw such scene. They were so frightened and felt heart jumping out. After a while, Zhu’s wife took out a Bible with her trembling hands. A police grabbed it away quickly and then ordered, “Ransack!” Immediately, the police turned the house upside down, seizing another Bible, several books, tapes, and a small tape-player. Then the police took away Zhu.

Several days later, his daughter went to visit Zhu in Jiutai City Detention Center, finding that her father was brutally treated and his hands were swelling. She was told that her father was sentenced for 15 day detention. On April 2^nd, Zhu’s family went to the detention center to get him home. However, they were told that Zhu was sentenced to one year in labor camp under the charge of “disturbing social order”, and had been sent to Jiutai City Labor Camp. The old brother got heart disease shortly after in the labor camp due to the toil and torture. This is the price the mainland Chinese Christians pay for following Jesus!
