Christian Yanyun Li Arrested Because “Receiving the No. One Church Leader in the Three Northeast Provinces”

On May 4th, 2003, Christian Yanyun Li, from Taipin District, Haerbin City, Heilongjiang Province, was arrested.

In that afternoon, Officer Yu (female, about 40) from Haerbin City State Security Department led three policemen went to Yanyun Li’s home, accompanied by the local community group leader. Seeing that Li was not at home, Officer Yu told her husband Jianshun Yang, “Want to ask Yanyun Li for some information, since she was reported being suspected with drug smuggling.” Then one policeman kicked to open a closet door while the others were also ready to search the house. Li’s husband and son stopped them. Then Officer Yu asked Li’s son to lead them to Li’s mother’s home in Daxin Street, Daowai District, Haerbin City, where the police arrested Li. At the night, Jianshun Yang got a call from the police, saying “Yanyun Li did not involve in drug smuggling, but believed in cult. She received the No. one church leader in the three northeast provinces. Because of this, she is now under custody in Haerbin City 2nd Detention Center.”

The next day, Officer Yu summoned Jianshun Yang to the State Security Department at 9 Red Star Street, Haerbin City. Officer Yu asked him, “Your house has received the No. one church leader in the three northeast provinces. Did you see any one coming to your home?” Yang said no. Then he requested to meet his wife. But the police turned him down. Li was still under custody when this reported was made.
