She Had No Choice but to Go Back and Face More “Legitimate” Torture

On June 12^th, 2003, Christian Jianxiu Liu went back to the labor camp again to continue her sentence after being bailed out for half a year because of health problem.

Jianxiu Liu, 35, from Liangtitou Town, Cao County, Heze City, Shandong province, was arrested on March 21^st, 2002 when preaching the gospel at Baolan Li’s home in Lizhuangzhai Village. The police took away her gospel materials and then sent her to Cao County Public Security Department.

She was beaten up right after arriving at the police department. The Political Protection Division Associated Head Bin Li led the interrogation. One policeman rolled up several newspapers and whipped her face for several dozens. Another policeman used a wood stick to strike her legs until the stick broken. Her face turned to red and swollen, and her legs covered with injuries. Such torture lasted till midnight. But she did not tell any thing. The next noon, she was sent to Cao County Beiguan Detention Center. Later, she was sentenced to two years in labor camp under the charge of “believing in cult”. On June 10^th, she was sent to Jinan City 1^st Woman Labor Camp.

In the labor camp, she was tortured for many times. As the consequence, she suffered from ceaseless stomach pain and continuously threw up blood and xxxx. On December 12^th, 2002, the police allowed her to be bailed out for medical treatment, and also instructed her to come back after half a year otherwise she would be considered as an escaper. Where could a woman with sever illness go? Half a year later, she had no choice but went back to face more “legitimate” torture.
