The Police Lifted Her Left Leg and Punched the End of Her Thighs

Jing Ye, female, 33, from Dachuantou Town, Kuandian County, and Yanling Yang, female, from Dasiping Town, Xinbin County, Liaoning Province, were evangelists of “Justification through Faith”. In the afternoon on December 26^th, 2002, they preached in Pingdingshan Town in Xinbin County. On their way back, the town police who got a report came up and caught them. After being interrogated at the police station, they were escorted to the county detention center.

In the next afternoon, Jing Ye was taken to a hotel room by four policemen. They tried to force her to tell where she came from and what she did. After slapping on her face for a while, the police pushed her on a chair and cuffed her hands at the back. One pushed down her head, one stepped on her right foot, and the third one lifted her left leg toward her face, punching the end of her thighs…After a moment, the police stepped on her left foot, lifted her right leg and punched again at… After several turns, one police picked up an electric baton and shock for long time on her face, neck, hands, chest, foot, the end of thighs… But she did not betray her Lord and friends even under such vicious torture. The police took her back to the detention center.

Then she was sentenced to three years in labor camp under the charge of “illegally preaching”. On February 13^th, 2003, her family handed in 7000 RMB (~$880) to the county police department to get her out of the jail by “alternative education administration”.

However, 13 days later on February 26^th, the county police arrested her again from her home and she was again sentenced to three years in labor camp under the charge of “spreading and propagandizing cult”. She was escorted to Liaoning Province Masanjia Labor Camp on April 21^st. The family only got 3000 RMB back of the 7000 RMB they handed in earlier. The rest 4000 RMB was extorted by Officer Jin who was in charge of her case.

The other evangelist, Yanlin Yang, was detained for 22 days at the county detention center. She was released after her family had handed in 3000 RMB fine.
