About Xiuling Wu

Sister Xiuling Wu, a member of Family of Jesus, passed away at the age of 36.

 

One day of 1989, while working at home, we were shocked by a sudden tragedy – Xiuling was taken away by a group of policemen. The reason was very simple: she should neither have believed in Christ, nor even have read the notes about Revelation. She was released after being repeated interrogated and threatened.

 

The second time happened at one day of June in 1993. Xiuling and some other sisters and brothers were surrounded by twenty more policemen from Weishan County, Jining City, when they were meeting at the house of Sister Yunshu Zheng at Duoyigou Village, Weishan County, Jining City. The policemen used guns and electric clubs to force them to get onto the police truck and took them to the county Public Security Bureau. With hands cuffed, Xiuling was shown to the public around the county on a police vehicle for several days. Then she was taken back to the police station and interrogated for three months, during which period she was beaten so severely that injures were all around her body. She was then sentenced to three years in jail after being tortured and humiliated. Arrested together with her were Fujing, who was sentenced to two years, and Jingxiu, who was sentenced to two years. Xiuling was then sent to the labor camp in Zibo City of Shandong Province. In the jail, she had to make certain number of clothes everyday. If could not finish, she would be abused and beaten. The work load exceeded far over her capability and strength. And the food was even worse than those for dogs and pigs. After a while, her poor body which was still not recovered from the severe torture could not stand more, and finally she fell down sick. Even though, she still had to do the heavy job with high fever. Day by day, she struggled to manage with her very sick health conditions. At last, when she really could not make it, she requested for treatment outside the jail. But her request was rejected. Finally in October 1994, when they saw the sick Xiuling almost die, they sent her back home for treatment, and informed the village chief to monitor her.

 

Xiuling was then sent to Zaozhuang Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine for two months without any improvement. The treatment was discontinued because of lack of money and she was sent back home. After the Chinese New Year, she was hospitalized for the second time. And now her life was approaching to the last minute and was sustained by intravenous nutritious injection. Her bones were just under the skin, and her face was distorted. Her skinny hand became transparent and the bones could be seen. Her face did not show any trace of blood color, eyes deeply sank back.

 

It was early March 1995 that Xiuling finally passed away at the age of 36. She was to be buried on March 6^th. Many brothers and sisters wanted to see her on that day, but they could not because there came a lot of police guarding on all the roads to Yanzhuang Village, Yinping Xiang, Fengcheng Distric, where Xiuling was to be buried, to arrest those brothers and sisters. Without choice, they only could pay their last solute to Xiuling from far away. This was the whole life of a kind virgin sister.

 

Xiuling’s family has been in great debt because of her medical bill was over 20,000 RMB (over $2500).
